Football Game Preview: Highlands Golden Rams vs. Burrell Bucs

Highlands is a perfect 4-0 against Burrell since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Golden Rams will head out to take on the Bucs at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Highlands took a 21-point defeat the last time they faced off against Freeport, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Rams slipped by the Yellowjackets 28-27 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Rams.

Highlands found their leader in sophomore Tevin Owen-Cratsenberg, who rushed for 261 yards and four scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

Highlands was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freeport only rushed for 165.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Burrell). They were the clear victors by a 41-21 margin over Valley on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Bucs in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.

Highlands now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Burrell, their record now sits at 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Highlands against Burrell in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 61-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
