Penobscot Valley is 3-0 against Woodland since December of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Penobscot Valley Howlers are taking a road trip to challenge the Woodland Dragons at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Penobscot Valley has 14 straight wins, Woodland has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, Penobscot Valley was fully in charge, breezing past Piscataquis 94-27. The Howlers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 92-28, which was the final score in Woodland's tilt against Mattanawcook on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Lynx are ranked second).

Penobscot Valley pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 51.7 points. As for Woodland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Everything came up roses for Penobscot Valley against Woodland when the teams last played on January 4th, as the team secured a 99-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Penobscot Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
