Baseball Recap: Walnut Grove Tigers vs. Crane Pirates

Walnut Grove came out on top against Crane on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Pirates 6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Dwyer Coons made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nicholas Leeper was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
