Football Recap: Nigel Anyomi and Deleon Gore Pace Brookland-Cayce Defense

Brookland-Cayce lost against Gilbert back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bearcats took a 30-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. While the Bearcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 7-3 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Brookland-Cayce saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Antwoine Lawson made ten total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Brookland-Cayce didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nigel Anyomi and Deleon Gore. Lawson was another major factor on D, making ten total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Brookland-Cayce's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Gilbert, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Brookland-Cayce has already played their next matchup, a 58-12 loss against North Augusta on the 24th. As for Gilbert, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 55-3 win against Airport on the 24th.
