Baseball Recap: Eagle Valley Comes Up Short

Eagle Valley had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 7-10 to make it 12. They lost 16-3 to the Summit Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-3 defeat on Saturday.

Hudson Rozga was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Jackson Woodworth, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Summit, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Summit, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Summit's side, Matty Misch was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Misch a new career-high. Hogan Tobias was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eagle Valley will venture away from home to square off against Battle Mountain at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Summit, they will face off against Middle Park at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
