Softball Recap: Fruitland Takes a Loss

Fruitland extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 9-14 in the process. They came up short against the Cole Valley Christian Chargers, falling 15-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Monday.

Fruitland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roxy Mason, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Cole Valley Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.5 runs.

On Cole Valley Christian's side, Karlie Barnum and Addy Herrera were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Barnum pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Herrera tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Barnum went 2-for-4 with one run and one double, while Herrera went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Herrera has posted since April 1st.

In other batting news, Lola Crosby was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abbie English, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

As of now, neither Fruitland nor Cole Valley Christian have any future games scheduled.
