Baseball Recap: Ida Baker Drops Highest Score of Season Against Dunbar

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ida Baker). They put the hurt on the Dunbar Tigers with a sharp 23-1 victory on Thursday. With that win, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 7.9 runs per game.

Hunter Krawczuk made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Robbie Hensley was incredible, scoring five runs while going 3-for-4. He also brought in three RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Schoenfelt, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Ida Baker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ida Baker's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-6 Dunbar and 4-6 North Fort Myers (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.9% over those games). As for Dunbar, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ida Baker will face off against North Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Fort Myers is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Dunbar, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Dunbar Tigers challenge First Baptist Academy Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
