Football Game Preview: Cibola Raiders vs. Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets

The Cibola Raiders will take on the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cibola will be strutting in after a win while Palo Verde Valley will be coming in after a loss.

Cibola is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Somerton 49-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Cibola's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Rodriguez led the charge by throwing for 200 yards and three TDs on only 14 passes. Darian Alvarez helped Rodriguez out on the ground, picking up 60 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also punching in one score on the ground.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Cibola, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Elijah Gomez, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Palo Verde Valley played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Sweetwater, falling 34-6. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Palo Verde Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Cibola, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
