Basketball Game Preview: Randolph-Clay Red Devils vs. Pataula Charter Academy Panthers

Randolph-Clay is 4-0 against Pataula Charter Academy since December of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Randolph-Clay Red Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Pataula Charter Academy Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Randolph-Clay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.

Randolph-Clay is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Early County just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Red Devils came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Bobcats are ranked 214th).

Despite the defeat, Randolph-Clay saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Josiah Daniels dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 boards. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Daniels. The team also got some help courtesy of Jes'Us Daniels, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Randolph-Clay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Pataula Charter Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against Terrell County, falling 62-34. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.

Pataula Charter Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Randolph-Clay, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-1.

Randolph-Clay took their win against Pataula Charter Academy in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 52-30. Will Randolph-Clay repeat their success, or does Pataula Charter Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
