Softball Game Preview: Roy Royals vs. Clearfield Falcons

Roy is 2-8 against Clearfield since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Royals will be playing at home against the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. Roy has given up an average of 15.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Roy is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 15th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 14-4 to Bonneville.

Meanwhile, Clearfield never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Woods Cross as they made off with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Falcons have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jenna Lloyd made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Emma Dishongh and Skylar Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Dishongh went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Davis went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that Davis has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Lyla Leonhardt, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Clearfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Roy's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Clearfield, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
