Preview: Oakwood Eagles vs. Ridgecroft Rams
The Oakwood Eagles will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Ridgecroft Rams at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Oakwood comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last 11 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Oakwood suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Halifax Academy, falling 55-15. Oakwood has not had much luck with Halifax Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Ridgecroft unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They were beaten by Crossroads Christian 93-57. Ridgecroft was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 64-29.
Sawyer Chamblee put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Bill Vaughan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Oakwood bumped their record down to 0-11 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ridgecroft, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.
Oakwood lost to Ridgecroft on the road by a decisive 60-41 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Oakwood, Justin Peterson (who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
