Softball Game Preview: Padua Franciscan Bruins vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish

The Padua Franciscan Bruins will square off against the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Padua Franciscan has four straight wins, St. Vincent-St. Mary has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Padua Franciscan's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Lake Catholic as they made off with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Bruins have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

St. Vincent-St. Mary couldn't beat Archbishop Hoban on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the second inning. The Fighting Irish fell just short of the Knights by a score of 11-10.

Kendal Batchik was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Kim, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one triple.

Padua Franciscan pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
