Softball Recap: Port Clinton Redskins vs. Edison Chargers
Port Clinton extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 11-11. They lost 13-3 to the Edison Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 two weeks ago.
Port Clinton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyric Jackson, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for Edison, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.
On Edison's side, Abby Cloud was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Cloud was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Peyton Taylor was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Natalie Desautels, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Port Clinton has already played their next matchup, a 4-3 loss against Sandusky on the 7th. As for Edison, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-12 victory against Willard on the 6th.
