Baseball Recap: Tustin Drops Season-High Score on Sunny Hills

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tustin). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Sunny Hills Lancers on Saturday.

Nyte Teeter and Daniel Benally did most of the damage at the plate: Teeter got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Benally got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Benally has become a key player for Tustin: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-14-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Roman Lavander, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Tustin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-15-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sunny Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tustin will head out to face off against Calvary Chapel at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sunny Hills, they will venture away from home to square off against Esperanza at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
