Preview: Cinco Ranch Cougars vs. Katy Tigers
Cinco Ranch is 0-9 against Katy since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cinco Ranch Cougars will be playing at home against the Katy Tigers at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Cinco Ranch earned a 17-7 victory over Paetow. Given Cinco Ranch's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Paetow is ranked 699th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The critical scores for Cinco Ranch came from Kellen LeCronier and Marcus Gadlin.
Meanwhile, Katy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Paetow as Katy made off with a 31-7 victory. The result was nothing new for Katy, who have now won four matches by 24 points or more so far this season.
Katy found their leader in underclassman Tremayne Hill, who rushed for 186 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Hill is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Cinco Ranch's win was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 5-3. Katy has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven contests, giving them a 6-1 record.
Cinco Ranch was dealt a bruising 56-28 loss at the hands of Katy in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Cinco Ranch have more luck at home instead of on the road?
