Softball Game Preview: Gladstone Braves vs. Menominee Maroons

Gladstone is a perfect 5-0 against Menominee since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Braves will host the Maroons at 1:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Gladstone is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Michigan's top teams: Escanaba, who was ranked fifth at the time (Gladstone was ranked 19th). The Braves came up short against the Eskymos on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Braves, who until this matchup were averaging 2.09 runs allowed.

Gladstone saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Sundquist, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Menominee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost 10-0 to Kingsford.

Menominee's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Gladstone, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-2.

Gladstone was able to grind out a solid win over Menominee in their previous matchup back in April, winning 5-2. Do the Braves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Maroons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
