Basketball Recap: Oneida Comes Up Short

Oneida was the 50-45 winner over Rome Free Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Oneida Express fell 48-41 to the Rome Free Academy Black Knights on Friday. While the Express didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Black Knights 9-4 in the first quarter.

Leading Rome Free Academy to victory were Zamora Council and Isabella Cunningham. Council went 5 of 10 en route to 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Cunningham dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. Kathryn Passalacqua also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Oneida now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Rome Free Academy, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

Oneida will venture away from home to square off against Little Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Rome Free Academy has already played their next contest (against Auburn), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
