Baseball Game Preview: Altus Bulldogs vs. Classen SAS Comets

The Altus Bulldogs will challenge the Classen SAS Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Altus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

While Altus' victory against Eisenhower wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Altus narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Eisenhower 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Griffin Marshall was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Altus is undefeated when Marshall posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Garrett Gribble was incredible, firing off three triples, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Altus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Classen SAS was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 7-1 to Duncan.

Classen SAS' defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Altus, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Classen SAS' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Altus has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. It's a different story for Classen SAS, though, as they've only averaged .224. Will they be able to contain Altus' hitters?
