Soccer Game Preview: Charter Oak vs. West Covina

The Charter Oak Chargers will challenge the West Covina Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Charter Oak's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Charter Oak's offense. They fell just short of Covina by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1002nd, while the Colts are ranked 296th).

Meanwhile, West Covina can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Rowland a 1-0 shutout. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Bulldogs were the better team in the second half.

Charter Oak's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11-1. As for West Covina, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-9.

Charter Oak came up short against West Covina in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Charter Oak avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
