Basketball Recap: Notus Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Notus won the last time they faced Greenleaf Friends Academy and Derrick Huter did his part to make sure it happened again. The Pirates came out on top against the Grizzlies by a score of 61-51 on Monday with plenty of help from Huter, who shot 70% from the field on his way to 22 points and five boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game.

Another player making a difference was Caleb Cudaback, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds. The game was his third in a row with at least 15 points.

Despite the loss, Greenleaf Friends Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ethan Browning put up 12 points. Browning also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Zane Fillmore was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Notus pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Greenleaf Friends Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Notus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 77-59 victory against Tri-Valley on the 9th. As for Greenleaf Friends Academy, they will be playing at home against Garden Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
