Basketball Recap: Unity Christian Comes Up Short

Unity Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights and fell 60-29. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-10.

Leading Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond to victory were Morgan Casteel and Sophie Monts. Casteel went 7 of 13 on her way to 20 points, while Monts dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Casteel a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Romine, who posted five points and eight boards.

Unity Christian now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Unity Christian will venture away from home to square off against St. Teresa at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Teresa will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Unity Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, they will square off against Central A & M at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
