Baseball Recap: Center Hill Mustangs vs. South Panola Tigers
Center Hill had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 10-15 to make it five. They fell just short of the South Panola Tigers by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 on Tuesday.
Cooper McCool was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for South Panola, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games.
On South Panola's side, Jamarion Ingram was excellent, going 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Ingram has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Holden Daleke, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs.
Coming up, Center Hill will be playing in front of their home fans against Lewisburg at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for South Panola, they are taking a road trip to take on Lafayette at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Commodores' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
