Baseball Game Preview: Simi Valley Pioneers vs. Heritage Eagles

The Simi Valley Pioneers will face off against the Heritage Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Heritage took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Simi Valley, who comes in off a win.

Simi Valley saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They came out on top against Kennedy by a score of 6-1.

Kyle Casey tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has become a key player for Simi Valley: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Herron, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Danny Pina, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Heritage's offense. They fell just short of Crean Lutheran by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oliver Kellogg was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Simi Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
