Baseball Recap: Foothill Comes Up Short

After flying high against Dougherty Valley last Wednesday, Foothill came back down to earth. The Falcons fell just short of the De La Salle Spartans by a score of 5-4 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost five in a row.

Foothill got a good showing from Charlie Stearns, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Stearns has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, George Schmitt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Aiden Tavares was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Foothill's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for De La Salle, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.

Foothill didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-3 victory against California on the 2nd. As for De La Salle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-1 win against Elk Grove on the 29th.
