Softball Game Preview: Dothan Wolves vs. Curry Yellowjackets

The Dothan Wolves will take on the Curry Yellowjackets in a tournament on Saturday.

Dothan saw some tournament action on Friday. They came up short against Oak Mountain, falling 7-1. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dothan got a good showing from Brantlee McCarthy, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. McCarthy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dothan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jada Newman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Curry got themselves on the board against Oak Mountain on Friday, but Oak Mountain never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won 25 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Ambrey Taylor was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Bailey Beasley also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Curry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 12 consecutive contests.

Curry's win bumped their record up to 40-2. As for Dothan, their loss dropped their record down to 17-17-1.

Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dothan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Curry struggles in that department as they've averaged .431. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
