Basketball Game Preview: Sahuarita Mustangs vs. Cienega Bobcats

The Sahuarita Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Cienega Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cienega took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sahuarita, who comes in off a win.

Sahuarita picked up another tournament win on Friday. They greeted the New Year with with a 54-37 victory over Tolleson.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cienega duked it out withSahuaro last Saturday. Cienega took a 38-20 bruising from Sahuaro. The Bobcats have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Sahuarita will have to keep a close watch on Amaya Woolford and Isabella Andaur, a pair of players who had a big impact on Cienega's prior game. Woolford posted four points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks, while Andaur put up nine points. Cienega is 5-2 when Woolford posts ten or more rebounds, but 3-4 otherwise.

Sahuarita is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. As for Cienega, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6.

Everything came up roses for Sahuarita against Cienega in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 64-36 win. Will Sahuarita repeat their success, or does Cienega have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
