Baseball Recap: Melba Has No Trouble Against New Plymouth

Melba barely beat New Plymouth the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Pilgrims a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The game marked the Mustangs' most dominant victory of the season.

The team relied heavily on Ty Aggen, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelton Bodily, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Melba has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for New Plymouth, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.

Coming up, Melba will head out to challenge Baker at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Plymouth, they will be playing at home against McCall-Donnelly on Friday. The Pilgrims are facing the Vandals at the right time seeing as the Vandals are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
