Softball Game Preview: Horse Creek Academy Stallions vs. Calhoun County Saints

The Horse Creek Academy Stallions are taking a road trip to face off against the Calhoun County Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Horse Creek Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Horse Creek Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Silver Bluff, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Horse Creek Academy was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Silver Bluff on Monday. Seven seems to be a good number for the Stallions as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Adrien Beak was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on KJ Simpkins, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Calhoun County made easy work of Hunter-Kinard-Tyler on Friday and carried off a 9-3 win. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

The win got Calhoun County back to even at 2-2. As for Horse Creek Academy, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Everything went Horse Creek Academy's way against Calhoun County when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Horse Creek Academy made off with a 12-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Horse Creek Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
