Softball Game Preview: Van Bulldogs vs. Greenbrier West Cavaliers

The Van Bulldogs will square off against the Greenbrier West Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Van has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 24.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Van's offense. They lost 15-0 to Sherman on Thursday.

Van saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Tackett, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Greenbrier West got themselves on the board against Richwood on Thursday, but Richwood never followed suit. They blew past the Lumberjacks 9-0. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Preslee Treadway, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Greenbrier West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Greenbrier West has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Van, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20.
