Volleyball Recap: Canton Central Catholic Comes Up Short

The Canton Central Catholic Crusaders came up short against the Villa Angela-St. Joseph Vikings on Thursday and fell 3-1.

Canton Central Catholic was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Villa Angela-St. Joseph work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 18-25, 25-9, 25-13.

Giada Marshall paced Canton Central Catholic's offense, picking up nine kills. Marshall got some help from Mae Axline and her 30 assists. Axline was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Lauren Bell had a dynamite game For Villa Angela-St. Joseph., getting 32 digs and two aces. What's more, Bell posted two assists, the most she's had over her last four matchups. Another player making a difference was Cecelia Oriani, who had 19 digs and two aces.

Canton Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-8.
