Football Recap: Burleson Comes Up Short

Burleson extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-5. They took a blow against the Argyle Eagles, falling 41-7. The Elks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 20-0.

Despite the defeat, Burleson had strong showings from Ashtyn Johnson, who picked up 97 receiving yards and one TD, and Cade McNeely, who threw for 125 yards and one touchdown.

As for Argyle, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.9 points over those games.

Maguire Gasperson was his usual excellent self, throwing for 229 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Caldwell, who picked up 94 receiving yards and one score.

Looking ahead, Burleson will square off against Colleyville Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Elks will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups. As for Argyle, they will challenge Grapevine at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Eagles will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.13 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
