Canyon came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with seven straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the San Marcos Rattlers. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rattlers, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Canyon took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-15, 25-10.

Marlee Lightsey paced Canyon's offense, picking up 16 kills. Lightsey got some help from Logan Sanders and her 26 assists. Gabriela Anna Etter controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Canyon's win bumped their record up to 25-12. As for San Marcos, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Canyon and San Marcos could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Cougars will square off against Cornerstone Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (49 vs. 2). Meanwhile, San Marcos (ranked 821st) will meet Johnson (ranked 58th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
