Baseball Game Preview: East Mecklenburg Eagles vs. Independence Patriots

For the second straight game, East Mecklenburg will face off against Independence. The Eagles will challenge the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. East Mecklenburg has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

East Mecklenburg is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Independence just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 15-8.

For Independence's part, Anthony Mosher was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave Mosher a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyson Jones, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.

Independence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Independence's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. As for East Mecklenburg, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 10-5.
