Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Easton Rinewalt and Ayden Poteet Lead West to Victory

There's no place like home for West, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 65-54 victory over the Clifton Cubs on Tuesday. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 44-41 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leading West to victory were Ayden Poteet and Easton Rinewalt. Poteet went 8 for 11 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds, while Rinewalt dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists. That's the most assists Rinewalt has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cason Carroll, who posted nine points and four steals.

Defeat or not, Clifton got some senior leadership from Ray Ochoa and Tristan Hammond. Ochoa had 20 points, while Hammond scored 19 points.

West has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Clifton, their loss dropped their record down to 17-9.

West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-55 win against Troy on the 25th. Clifton has also already played their next game, a 77-56 victory against Whitney on the 24th.
