Basketball Recap: Metropolitan Learning Center's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Metropolitan Learning Center can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 39-31 win over the Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy Phoenix. For the Dragons, this counts as revenge for the 25-19 victory the Phoenix walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Kendall Hawkins and Anyiah Crump. Hawkins dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards, while Crump posted 13 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Hawkins a new career-high in assists (two).

The win got Metropolitan Learning Center back to even at 1-1. As for Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Metropolitan Learning Center will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy] at 4:45 p.m. on February 5th. As for Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Cheney Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
