Morenci put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 54-45 victory over the Thatcher Eagles. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Eagles are ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Morenci pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.2 points. As for Thatcher, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3.

Morenci will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against San Miguel at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Thatcher has already played their next matchup, a 75-72 loss against Tanque Verde on the 21st.
