Basketball Recap: Dylan Alvidrez Key Part of a Team Effort in Sentinels Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Benjamin Franklin, Seton Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They rang in the new year with a 56-49 win over the Thatcher Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Sentinels, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seton Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Alvidrez, who went 6 of 8 en route to 17 points. Those 17 points gave Alvidrez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Morris, who posted 13 points.

Thatcher lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Wyatt Nicholas, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Bryce, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Seton Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Thatcher, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Seton Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-52 loss against Florence on the 6th. As for Thatcher, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 85-56 victory against Douglas on the 8th.
