Football Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They had to suffer through a 35-0 loss at the hands of the Crestview Knights. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 518th, while the Knights are ranked 232nd).

As for Crestview, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. That 35 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Leading Crestview to victory were Braxton Leeth and Huxley Grose. Leeth rushed for 114 yards and a pair of scores, while Grose rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown. Grose got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 59 yards. Hayden Perrott made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Coming up, Jefferson will face off against Lima Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbirds' defense has only allowed 11.6 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Crestview, they will head out to take on Bluffton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Pirates have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
