MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings

Not only did it win arguably the biggest interstate game this season, but it did so decisively.

As a result, John Curtis rises into the Top 3 of the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.

Curtis, ranked No. 8 last week, hammered previous No. 10 Plant on Friday night and now checks in as the nation's No. 3 team.

Also enjoying a rise in the rankings this week is Camden County. The southern Georgia powerhouse has scored 150 points in three games while only allowing seven.



Allen, which debuted a $60 million stadium two weeks ago, enters the rankings this week following consecutive victories over Southlake Carroll and Cedar Hill.

Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard


1. (1) Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.), 2-0
After a stellar debut against Miramar, Manatee followed up with an easy 49-7 victory over Riverview. Qwixcore

2. (2) Grayson (Loganville, Ga.), 2-0
Grayson enjoyed a bye week after hammering Miami Central a week ago.

3. (8) Curtis (River Ridge, La.), 2-0

4. (3) Skyline (Dallas), 2-0
Skyline held on against a very good Martin team, escaping with a 37-34 triumph.

5. (4) Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), 3-0
Santa Margarita prevailed against its first Orange County opponent, downing Trabuco Hills 55-0. Qwixcore

6. (5) Bellevue (Wash.), 2-0
There was no letdown for Bellevue following its season-opening victory against Trinity. It beat Bothell 35-7. Qwixcore

9. (11) Lake Travis (Austin, Texas), 2-0
The Lake Travis offense continues to roll. This week, it was at the expense of Judson, as the Cavaliers won 49-7.

10. (12) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 2-0
Bishop Gorman had a bye week after beating two out-of-state opponents to open its season.

11. (14) Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.), 1-0
While Don Bosco Prep, St. Joseph Regional and Timber Creek all went down over the weekend, Bergen Catholic was one New Jersey team that met expectations, hammering St. Anthony's 59-21. Qwixcore

12. (22) Camden County (Kingsland, Ga.), 3-0
Thus far this season, Camden County has been consistently dominant, most recently blanking Johnson 55-0 on Friday. The scoring margin is impressive: 150 points scored and seven allowed. Qwixcore / Story / Video

13. (15) Trinity (Louisville, Ky.), 3-0
After two come-from-behind victories, Trinity put forth a dominant effort in a 45-21 win against Elder. Qwixcore

14. (16) St. Ignatius (Cleveland), 3-0
Against an opponent known for its offensive prowess, St. Ignatius looked the part of the high-powered juggernaut. It downed Mentor 48-21. Qwixcore

15. (17) Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati), 3-0
Moeller moved to 3-0 with an impressive 61-33 road win against Michigan's Catholic Central.

16. (19) Butler (Matthews, N.C.), 3-0
Butler continues to win easily, as it downed Vance 48-6.

18. (20) Ensworth (Nashville, Tenn.), 4-0
The offense and defense both excelled for Ensworth in a 47-0 win over Raleigh-Egypt.

19. (21) Hoover (Ala.), 2-0

20. (23) Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.), 3-0

21. (NR) Allen (Texas), 2-0
After a stunningly one-sided victory over Southlake Carroll to open its season, Allen followed up with a 37-20 victory over Cedar Hill. Qwixcore

22. (24) St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 2-0
Aquinas proved its victory over Columbus was no fluke, as it pulled away from Cypress Bay to win 43-17.

23. (NR) Cass Tech (Detroit), 3-0
After capturing a Division I state title last season, Cass Tech has not missed a beat. The talented Detroit school is 3-0 and has not allowed any points in the last two weeks.

24. (NR) Goose Creek (S.C.), 3-0
There's no doubt that this is an extremely deep year for South Carolina football. Goose Creek is near the top of the list after a 49-14 victory over Summerville. Qwixcore

25. (NR) Narbonne (Harbor City, Calif.), 2-0
Led by senior quarterback Troy Williams, Narbonne looked great in a 56-0 shutout over traditional SoCal power Long Beach Poly. It was the worst loss inflicted upon the school with the highest number of alums to make the NFL since 1916.
