Softball Game Preview: Putnam County Panthers vs. Dwight Trojans

For the second straight game, Putnam County will face off against Dwight. The Panthers will host the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Putnam County's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Dwight has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

On Monday, Putnam County came up short against Dwight and fell 8-3.

For Dwight's part, Madi Ely spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Ely has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Averi Jury was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Dori Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Dwight lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 3-1 when they post two or more home runs.

Putnam County's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Dwight, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-10.
