MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings

In one of the most impressive games of the season, Don Bosco Prep demonstrated its prowess in a 38-7 victory over previous No. 9 St. Edward.

The win helped the Ironmen maintain their No. 1 spot in the Xcellent 25 Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.

The weekend's other big winner was Miramar. Previously ranked No. 24, Miramar knocked off St. Thomas Aquinas, which was ranked No. 5, in overtime. As a result, Miramar makes a big jump to No. 5

Allen, which had trouble putting away Plano East, slips from No. 4 to No. 9.



Entering the rankings this week are Daphne and Hamilton, the two best teams from their respective states.

1. (1) Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), 5-0
In their most impressive victory of the season, the Ironmen dismantled previous No. 9 St. Edward 38-7 in a game played at Fordham. (Story)

2. (2) Armwood (Seffner, Fla.), 6-0
Three Alvin Bailey touchdowns along with another punishing defensive effort allowed Armwood to cruise to a 35-0 win over Sickles.

3. (3) Trinity (Louisville, Ky.), 7-0
Trinity continues to dominate, pounding Manual 58-7.

4. (6) DeSoto (Texas), 6-0
DeSoto came from behind to knock off North Mesquite, 28-17.

5. (24) Miramar (Fla.), 5-0
Miramar shoots up the rankings following a huge 27-20 overtime victory over St. Thomas Aquinas. (Story)

In another dominant effort, Katy hammered Morton Ranch 45-7.

7. (8) Gaffney (S.C.), 7-0
Quarterback Joey Copeland continued his fine play this season by throwing for six touchdown passes as Gaffney downed Clover 55-3.

8. (10) Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.), 6-0
Good Counsel beat DeMatha by a 35-21 score.

9. (4) Allen (Texas), 6-0
In a lackluster performance, Allen hung on to win an ugly game against Plano East, 42-38.

10. (11) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 7-1
Shaquille Powell's 119 yards and two scores helped Bishop Gorman defeat Pahrump Valley 69-0.{PAGEBREAK}
11. (5) St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 4-1
Injuries took their toll in Aquinas' 27-20 overtime loss to Miramar.

12. (12) Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.), 7-0
Mallard Creek continued to feast on Charlotte competition, pounding North Mecklenburg 63-0.

13. (13) Buford (Ga.), 8-0
Buford continues to dominate, coming away with a 70-0 victory over Clarkston.



14. (14) Grayson (Loganville, Ga.), 6-0
Robert Nkemdiche rushed for three scores in Grayson's 34-14 victory over Dacula.

15. (15) Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati), 7-0
Spencer Iacovone's three touchdowns powered Moeller past Elder 36-10.

Two Joel Kimpela touchdowns were more than enough for Trinity, which handed Haltom a 35-8 defeat.

17. (19) Warren Central (Indianapolis), 8-0
Warren Central moved to 8-0 in a 55-13 romp over South Vigo.

18. (17) Bellevue (Wash.), 6-0
Another week, another victory over an in-state foe as Bellevue beat Juanita 42-14.

19. (18) Harrison (Farmington Hills, Mich.), 7-0
Sophomore running back Lorenzo Collins found the end zone five times for Harrison in a 48-21 win over Adams.

20. (20) Central (Miami), 5-0
After a big win over Columbus, the Rockets held on for a 10-6 victory over Homestead.{PAGEBREAK} 21. (21) Lake Travis (Austin, Texas), 6-0
Baker Mayfield threw for three scores in Lake Travis' 42-10 victory against Vandegrift.



22. (23) Camden County (Kingsland, Ga.), 6-0
Camden County dominated Benedictine, winning 56-6.

23. (25) Central Catholic (Pittsburgh), 6-0
Centtral Catholic blasted Plum 60-6.

24. (NR) Daphne (Ala.), 7-0
With a 42-21 victory over Robertsdale, Daphne continued its dominant performance against Alabama competition.

25. (NR) Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.), 7-0
Hamilton easily outplayed previously unbeaten Desert Vista en route to a 35-10 victory. Hamilton has now won 47 straight games.
