Basketball Game Preview: Carlinville Cavaliers vs. Greenville Comets

Carlinville hasn't had much luck against Greenville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Carlinville Cavaliers will venture away from home to square off against the Greenville Comets at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Tuesday, Carlinville was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Litchfield. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dominic Alepra, who went 7-for-17 en route to 21 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Duckels, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Greenville played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Staunton 51-20. The contest marked the Comets' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Carlinville's loss dropped their record down to 13-17. As for Greenville, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-11.

Carlinville might still be hurting after the 59-33 loss they got from Greenville in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Carlinville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
