Softball Recap: Spotswood Extends Winning Streak to Three

Spotswood entered their tilt with Perth Amboy on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Panthers 12-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Chargers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Ava Mormile spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabby Hill, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last eight matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliana Ziegler, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Spotswood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive games.

Spotswood pushed their record up to 11-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Perth Amboy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spotswood will host South River at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Perth Amboy, they will welcome Franklin at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday.
