Basketball Recap: Segerstrom Takes a Loss

After flying high against Orange last Wednesday, Segerstrom came back down to earth. The Segerstrom Jaguars took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Katella Knights on Friday. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Katella's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jesus Jaramillo, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Curtis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Segerstrom has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Katella, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.

Segerstrom will venture away from home to take on Garden Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Katella, they will host Kennedy at 6:31 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Katella has won three straight at home, while Kennedy won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
