Softball Recap: Churchill's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Churchill brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They came out on top against the Ashland Grizzlies by a score of 15-11 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Lancers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Sienna Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Lexie Hoberg was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Sahalie Hoberg was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Churchill's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Ashland, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Churchill will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Grizzlies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
