Basketball Game Preview: Butler County Bears vs. Muhlenberg County Mustangs

The Butler County Bears will square off against the Muhlenberg County Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Butler County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Muhlenberg County likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Butler County came up short against Battle Ground Academy and fell 72-60.

Despite the loss, Butler County got top-tier performance from Ty Price, who went 14 for 25 en route to 39 points and six boards. That was a full 65% of Butler County's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Briar Griffin, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points.

Even though they lost, Butler County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Muhlenberg County entered their game against Henderson County on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Muhlenberg County took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Henderson County.

Butler County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points per game. As for Muhlenberg County, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.

Everything came up roses for Butler County against Muhlenberg County when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured an 81-47 victory. Will Butler County repeat their success, or does Muhlenberg County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
