Baseball Recap: Warrenton Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Warrenton waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Valley Catholic Valiants. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Valiants, too.

Warrenton let Tyson McGrorty and Ryder Sturgell run wild. McGrorty went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI, while Sturgell went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Sturgell a new career-high.

Warrenton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

Warrenton's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Catholic, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6-1.

Warrenton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Valiants: the pair will be back at it again later today.
