Football Recap: Coosa Takes a Loss

Coosa fell victim to Gordon Central and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Gordon Central Warriors 30-0. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Charlie Cannon threw for 119 yards on 11 of 19 attempts. Jaylen Worfford was his top target, picking up 58 receiving yards. On the ground, Jyshughn Turner rushed for 80 yards.

Nathan Johnson had a dynamite game for Gordon Central, rushing for 173 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Johnson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks, forcing a fumble, and forcing a fumble. Traeviun Millsap also helped out with an impressive 116 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Coosa and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Gordon Central, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2.

Coosa will welcome Christian Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Christian Heritage will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Coosa surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gordon Central, they will venture away from home to challenge Fannin County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 897 yards in their previous games.
