Volleyball Game Preview: Sahuaro Cougars vs. Salpointe Catholic Lancers

Sahuaro hasn't had much luck against Salpointe Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Lancers at 5:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Sahuaro proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Walden Grove 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since March 7th.

Meanwhile, Salpointe Catholic came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with nine straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Thunderbolts.

Salpointe Catholic was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-16, 22-25, 25-13, 15-13.

Salpointe Catholic's win came from a few key players Sahuaro will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Reyes Gardner-Figueroa, who had 15 digs and one assist. That's the most digs he has posted since back in March.

Sahuaro's win bumped their record up to 12-15. As for Salpointe Catholic, they pushed their record up to 24-8 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
