Baseball Recap: Start Beats Waite for Their Sixth Straight Win

Start waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Waite Indians get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Braydin Roesner made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Roesner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Bryce Creecy was a standout: he got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Start's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3-1 when he doesn't). Joe Buck was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Start always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Start's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Waite, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Start has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Springfield on the 24th. As for Waite, they will take on Sandusky at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
